Hello.
My name is Steven Hauser
and I’m an engineering manager and frontend engineer based in Cleveland, Ohio.

With over 15 years of experience as a frontend engineer and manager, I've built design systems and web apps using my deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and JS, using many different tools and frameworks on top such as TypeScript, React, Redux, Svelte, and Lit.

I even remember Backbone. And jQuery. Quite fondly.

I'm also familiar with many different build and DX tools like Webpack and Storybook, and I stay on top of Web Platform technologies like native imports and all of the fantastic new JS APIs and CSS functionality.

While my core interests are frontend engineering and design, I’ve worked with many other technologies, too, such as Next.js, Rails, and Django.

My primary engineering goal is to provide users and devs with what they need most, whether that’s useful features, helpful docs, or resilient systems—anything that helps them achieve their goals.

I believe that less is more and that eliminating noise and supporting focus are critical factors in that endeavor, and that simple is usually better.

My primary interest is in building flexible, scalable, accessible UIs—in particular design systems—and collaborating closely with design and product to produce experiences that users love and that engineers and designers love to build.

Quality is key, but pragmatism is critical. As an engineering manager I've led teams with this in mind, focusing on business goals and UX, while ensuring that things are built maintainably and scalably along the way.
